Shot entirely from the window of a tour bus in Cairo, Egypt, this video lets you witness a blend of old and modern Cairo, the affluent sectors and the poorer ones, the boulevards, skyscrapers, the mosques and the minarets, cars and donkey carts, pedestrians in western and Arab garb, and all the striking contrasts that makes this city by the Nile one of the most visited places in the world.

The Sound and Light Show at the Great Pyramids takes place on the Giza plateau, around 30 minutes from Cairo. The one-hour show begins with the illumination of the Sphinx, who narrates the history of the pyramids and their builders.

Using laser beams and light projections on the walls of the Mummification Temple, desert sands, pyramid walls and the Sphinx itself, a condensed story of Egypt unfolds. The accompanying soundtrack complements the surroundings and the voice of the Sphinx is suitably dramatic and mysterious!

At the famous Luxor Temple on the Nile River, tourists come to touch a wall relief of Min, the ancient God of Fertility, in the hopes that some of his luck will rub off. But now the Pharaonic relief is in danger of destruction.

But the country’s top archaeologist says the throngs of visitors are destroying the very sites they come here to see.
